Now President George W. Bush has won. No more worry about being an illegitimate or a minority president. The historic election victory for the party in power -- in an off-year, no less -- represents surprising support for the direction he has slowly, at times haltingly, taken the country in its defense against terrorist thugs. America grew up on 9/11, and it appears that a majority of the voters are now becoming hawks. So he should end the self-doubt. He's in charge. There is evil in the world, and evil must be defeated. We should stop worrying about what countries like Russia and France think of us. We should tell the United Nations what it can do with its Security Council, as if security could be achieved by making deals with dictators who gas and terrorize their own people in the pursuit of power. We should take out and demolish Saddam Hussein once and for all. Treat the "axis of evil" countries as if they are indeed evil, and stay consistent to this premise no matter what the rotten intellectual and diplomatic establishment says. For example, we should terminate all aid to North Korea's dictatorship and put it on notice that after Iraq it will be next. We should stop listening to the "moderates," for they are not reasonable so much as compromising and appeasing of terrorists. On the home front, Bush should aggressively use his clout in Congress to put his words into practice -- continuing to lower taxes, increase defense spending, get the government out of the business world and keep it involved where it belongs, in the realm of safety and security. And he should also push for Social Security privatization.

Stop and Think...

" A thing moderately good is not so good as it ought to be. Moderation in temper is always a virtue; but moderation in principle is always a vice. "
