Say GoodBye, Timothy; Now Forget Him

As a strong advocate of freedom and limited government, I am happy to see Timothy McVeigh die. A terrorist masquerading as an advocate of freedom is worse than a Hitler or a Stalin who makes no bones about his real intentions. Mr. McVeigh has set the cause of freedom back in this country, and I sleep better knowing he's gone. Liberals and other big-government types can point to Mr. McVeigh and say, "See, this is what anti-big government is all about!" In truth, Mr. McVeigh was no advocate of freedom or rights of any kind. He was pro-violence, plain and simple, just like any terrorist. Is it unhealthy vengeance for me to be happy to see Mr. McVeigh die? Absolutely not. Unhealthy vengeance, as opposed to simple, rational justice, would mean dwelling on my glee over his death for years to come. I have much better things to think about. Only the people who lost loved ones in his terrorist assault will continue to think about Mr. McVeigh after he is gone. The rest of us who did not fall victim to his terrorism can, and should, feel very much at peace come Tuesday morning.
