 "If you quit on school ... you're quitting on your country." Excuse me? Is President Obama, by saying this to public school children, implying that the purpose of going to school is to serve the state -- i.e., "the country"? In a free country, you serve your country by serving yourself. You educate yourself because you want the best life possible -- for yourself, and your loved ones. Excellence is made of self-interest -- not meaningless babble about "serving the country" which most children cannot understand, and the best of them will not dare understand. Public school children are not little nazis who exist to serve the state of Mr. President Obama. They are little individuals who owe it to themselves -- not to anybody else -- to develop their minds to full potential. Those who still believe that public schools are intended to do this, according to this motive -- please take note.
