airlinesherbkelleher“A company is stronger if it is bound by love rather than by fear.”

"If you’re wrong, you slit your own throat."

"... Positions and titles signify absolutely nothing. They're just adornments; they don't represent the substance of anybody."

"Think and act big and grow smaller, or think and act small and grow bigger."

"If the employees come first, then they're happy, ... A motivated employee treats the customer well. The customer is happy so they keep coming back, which pleases the shareholders. It's not one of the enduring Green mysteries of all time, it is just the way it works."

-- all of the above quotes are Herb Kelleher, founder of the highly successful Southwest Airlines

Politicians, academics and media talking heads despise capitalism and the entrepreneurs who make it possible. Yet the successful entrepreneurs are the ones who make everything possible, including the capital that politicians eventually steal for themselves and their "entitled" constituents. Nevertheless, America produced some great capitalists in its time, and one of the more recent ones was Herb Kelleher, founder of Southwest Airlines. What makes a capitalist great is not his money, but his mind; the second makes the first possible. When and if the United States becomes a capitalist country once again, it will produce more Kellehers.

Barackthearrogant"Despite his appearance of confidence, Obama's is an empty soul in search of fulfillment.  The salve for his wounded heart is the acquisition of raw power. Power that is unimpeded, unopposed, and subject only to the capricious whims of a self-conscious, adolescent boy housed in a middle-aged man's body. Nothing less will do.
