I realize that a rational person does not want to waste time. But wasting time implies knowingly squandering time. If you honestly believe you can accomplish something, and you seriously endeavor to do it, then you are not wasting time. You are honestly pursuing values, and that’s what life is about. Wasting time would consist of sleeping, being a perpetual couch potato and only doing the bare minimum required for survival—or worse, even mooching off of others. THESE things are a tragic waste of time. But in the life of any accomplished person, there are lots of values being pursued. Some goals are realized and many are not, but the pursuit is never a waste of time. Failures, by the way, usually lead to discoveries and corrections that eventually result in successes.
