You will not enjoy the benefits of your success and you will not be able to look at your errors rationally so as to correct them. A retreat into misery does not protect you from anything. It only guarantees sustained misery. Is sustained misery actually better than periods of success followed by periods of disappointment, followed again by a strengthened success?
