Don’t be too bogged down by bad, harsh or aggressive, nasty people. They’re weak. They don’t have much influence in the world, at least not the kind that’s of any use. They put others down, but they don’t create or contribute anything rational or beautiful, not for themselves or others. The only people who matter are the ones who create something rational, or beautiful. These need not be gigantic things, but just something, within the range of their abilities and choices at a given time. Those are the people who matter and the ones you ought to pay attention to—by appreciating them and striving to be like them. The point is: They matter. The ones who don’t bring rationality or beauty to life don’t matter. They only need to be avoided, and minimized, and disregarded if at all possible.
