I think what people really yearn for is not so much "unconditional
love" -- since we all love for reasons -- as "uncomplicated love." The
purest form of love is NOT love without a self, love without reasons,
or love without purpose. People have selves, reason and purpose in
every other context of life -- so why not in their love lives, as well?
The purest kind of love is love OF a certain set of values -- embodied
by the person being loved. In short: You love someone because he or she
is, in fact, what you want. A love without fraud, hidden agendas or
misunderstanding is a love that can last a lifetime. Once you find love
like this, if you do, you'll never give it up.
