People say the "middle" is where the reasonable resides. But this makes no sense. Sometimes this is true, and sometimes it isn't. For example, a moderate amount of chocolate is healthier (and ultimately more enjoyable) than an excessive amount. Reasonable does not mean excessive. But it doesn't follow from this that the "middle" is where reason always resides. Think about it. Would you rather have a service done, or a product made, with excellence, or with mere adequacy? Adequacy lies in the middle; so does mediocrity.
