I am just starting to read about Objectivism and Ayn Rand and beginning to make some stark realizations about my life. You have done so much to help me through your website. As I read through your site and begin to learn to think more rationally and logically I know I can improve my life for the better. |

Hi, I just thought I would drop you a note and share this with you. I have an article from the April 21st edition of the Coast Press (think that was the publication -- it's cut off!) My mom sent it to me ... Your column that edition was about listening to yourself on important issues ... at the time she sent it I was in therapy and working through some co-dependency issues. I have saved the article and carry it in my planner to remind me that I should rely on myself first for decisions and that even when others might disagree with my choices if I feel I am making the best decision for myself that is what matters. I just wanted to let you know that the column clipping has acted as a reminder of wise words for me. I'm glad my mom read it and thought to share it with me and I wanted to share with you the impact it made on me. I pulled it out today and reread it :) |

Your writing --- and your reasoning --- are superb. And the graphics that you put beside your articles are an excellent way to reinforce the principles. |

I can’t even begin to describe how refreshing your work is ... Your blog hits the nail on the head regarding the indivisible relationship between philosophy / politics and mental health. Most everyone I know can’t seem to wrap their head around how someone “in my role” could be so pro-capitalist, pro-individual – you name it. My response to that is, How could anyone not be?! Optimal mental health springs from healthy self-esteem… and you can’t have that without the “self.” Seems pretty basic to me, but it’s a constant uphill battle in terms of dealing with the wider mental health community. |

Thanks very much for your excellent newsletters. I enjoy every one of them and frequently pass them on to my teen-age son to read as well. It's very comforting to know that there are at least a few other reasonable minds out there. |

"Just calling to congratulate you on your last two articles. You are so right on. The 'Road Rage' article was great, and you know, if people would take responsibility for their own actions instead of blaming everybody else, we would be approaching heaven on Earth here. Also your current article again was right on -- the fallacy of "helping." So you're doing a great job and I encourage it. I encourage everyone to read your articles and see what they think. They are really good. Thanks a lot, and keep doing a good job!" |

This is just to echo what I'm sure many people have told you, how much I value and appreciate your clear, concise insights into the topics you address.
I look at you as the authentic, integrated Objectivist/Austrian who specializes in psychology.
Like [Ayn] Rand and [Ludwig] von Mises, you give a clear and accurate presentation of the ideas and premises of those who you take exception with and procede with facts and logic, building solid arguments from fundemental premises to inescapable conclusions. You often begin with the concretes and work back to the premises. The links are always presented in ways that capture the essense of the connections. |

Michael, you're right, Atlas has been shrugging for years under the unbearable weight of modern liberalism. Thanks for being a voice of reason in the midst of madness. |

You are the first person I have read or spoken to who is able to apply Objectivist principles to life. Most of us cannot explain this at all, let alone as well as you have been able to. Every Objectivist I know always asks how can we apply these principles to life and we spend hours discussing this when all we needed was "Grow Up America!"
"Atlas Shrugged" describes Objectivism but it is you who puts it in easy enough terms for all of us to understand how it applies to our daily living as well as how we can have the best possible life. |

I would love to see “Grow up America” as one of the books that all students, therapists and adults read. It would help all people have a better, healthier, happier life. Parents would especially benefit as well as anyone interested in having a healthy relationship and the best possible life.
Dr. Hurd deserves praise. I have never met anyone as bright as he who conveys his thoughts so well in both word and writing. The book that had the most influence on our lives was “Atlas Shrugged” but for me it is now “Grow Up America."

I just wanted to let you know that I read your blog everyday and appreciate the perspective you give on politics, psychology, and other sorts of issues. As a college student, I see first hand a lot of the psychological problems that you address on your blog, particularly with the self-esteem and emotional issues that a lot of college students have. As a college news blogger and editor, I see both first hand and through reviewing college newspapers a lot of the issues that you discuss daily on your website.
Thanks again for your daily dose of knowledge. |

"Excellent article about 'Unhealthy Escapes' in the [Delaware] Coast Press. As one who quit smoking after almost 30 years with the help of Chantix and the Quitnet. It hit home, especially for me in the summer, as we all go to barbecues, parties and having been through the stress of moving, we found ourselves out drinking more." |
